On Thursday, October 12th, 2023, the Sanaa kama biashara capacity building program conducted its second session for the Taita Taveta cohort. This session focused on vital aspects such as Art as a Business, by Kevin Kahuro Kimani, International Cultural Relations Specialist and Business structures and Introduction to Contracts, by Mildred Mwanyika Chidosho, Associate at MMS Advocates. The event was organized by MMS Advocates in collaboration with the County Government of Taita Taveta and featured expert guidance from Kenya Cultural Centre held at Sophia Bona social hall.
The program’s aim is to empower individuals in the arts industry with practical knowledge about turning their creative pursuits into sustainable businesses. By delving into topics like Art as a Business, attendees gained insights into the commercial aspects of their creative endeavors. The session on Business Structures provided essential information on organizing and managing artistic enterprises effectively. Additionally, the Introduction to Contracts workshop equipped participants with fundamental legal knowledge, ensuring they understand the legal frameworks essential for their work. This collaborative initiative between the Kenya Cultural Centre, MMS Advocates, and the county Government of Taita Taveta highlights the collective dedication to fostering a thriving artistic community in the region.
